2nd Nassau

The Nassau line infantry regiments probably have the most easily recognisable Napoleonic 'minor nation' uniform going. As well as having a great mix of colours - green, yellow and red - their piped trousers, tan belts and distinctive grenadier busby all go together to make quite splendid units. 1st Nassau also have very distinctive shoulder rolls but, I went for the 2nd Nassau because I actually prefer the bigger colour splash of epaulettes. In retrospect, it might have been a good idea to do a battalion of each.

Controversially, I went for white shako covers rather than black, the latter being the colour prescribed by Haythornethwaite.

There is artwork showing Nassauers in white shako covers and I thought that white not only looks more suited to the sunny climes of Spain, but adds yet another splash of colour to units of high visual impact.

Note that these units comprise two mixed up battalion packs  plus skirmishers. One pack was in covered shako, and the other not, and here I made the mistake of not looking at the figures before buying them.

The genadiers and voltigeurs in the 'covered shako' pack have neither plumes or pom-poms. I wasn't keen on the look of them and had to buy 12 figures to replace them.
